Girls night

On Saturday, I met up with some of my girlfriends for a fun night out down on the Plaza. We all braved the cold. It was freezing!!! Luckily, I scored a parking spot on the street right in front of our meeting place. This giant SUV in front of me was trying to parallel park on the street. Finally, they gave up and drove off leaving me with the spot and thankful I drive a small car! We met at the Granfalloon for dinner and drinks. I hadn't seen these girls since before the holidays (things are, of course, always hectic around the holidays for everyone) so there was a lot of catching up to do. Everyone seems to be doing well...they're crazy and fun as ever!!

Gran Torino

We went to the movies today and enjoyed our day off...the AMC theatres have $5 movie day so it made for cheap entertainment. We spent way more at the concession getting our popcorn and treats!! We saw Clint Eastwood's new movie, Gran Torino. We thought it was a good movie, one definitely worth a watch. It is rated R due to the offensive language used and all of the racial slurs but the storyline and acting was good.

Weekend Fun

A few pictures to share from the weekend.
We hung out with Derick & Will on Saturday night at Will's place. We had dinner and played some games. Derick & I beat Kevin & Will playing SEQUENCE and then we played SORRY!, in which I beat everyone. This made for a good night because, I'm sure most of you know, I am VERY competitive at games and I like to WIN!!! (and if I don't, it's normally not a fun night....yes, I am one of THOSE people)

This would be Derick & I winning at SEQUENCE.

This is Kacie (Derick's dog) sporting her ever so lovely evening gown!
And this is me sporting one of my Audrey shirts!

We also hung out with Scott & Jenny on Friday night. We had many laughs visiting about the joys of marriage.

This is what happens when you shop at Costco. EVERYTHING is SUPERSIZED!!! hehehe

Work lunch

My co-worker, Theresa, and I were taken to lunch today by one of our vendors. We ate some good Mexican food at Dos Hombres in the River Market and had a good, productive, business lunch. However, the most memorable part of lunch was when Mike (front left) got the HOT sauce in his eye!!! How DOES one get HOT sauce in their eye, you ask?? Good question!!...we never quite figured it out.

I'm really glad it's Friday. We have a 3 day weekend so we're looking forward to our extra day.

best run yet!

I had my best 20 min run tonight. I ran 2.75 miles in 20 minutes!!! It's a new record for me and I am greatly pleased. I'm not as fast as my running partner, Jenny, but it's good enough for me!

Relaxing weekend

We didn't have any plans for the weekend so we mostly relaxed and stayed around home. We had received some steaks from the Omaha Steak Company from Scott and Jenny for Christmas so we decided to cook them Saturday night. They turned out wonderful, accompanied by some twice-baked potatoes and green beans. We also had a mini-chocolate cake for dessert!

I made Kevin watch Mama Mia with me for the hundreth time! He has even learned quite a few of the songs and is even starting to sing-a-long! Even though he'll probably never admit it....I think he likes the movie. It helps that he bought me the soundtrack, so now I know all the songs by heart.

New York & Company is having a big sale. A lot of the winter items are clearanced to make room for the spring & summer collections they're already getting in. Jenny alerted me of the sale so I had to go check it out. I love their clothes and they fit me well...they have petite sizes which is nice because I'm so short!!! I got some dress shirts for work and a new pair of jeans. Jeans are especially hard to find so I was more than thrilled to find some especially since they were clearanced at $19.99!!

Back to the routine...

We had an eventful weekend that went by much too quickly. On Saturday, we met Ross and Jo and their friends, David and Christine, on the Plaza for lunch. We ate at Tomfooleries and Ross and Jo graciously treated everyone! Now we owe them...again. We had a lot of fun reminiscing about school picture day and when the mullet was in style!! And yes, all of the men admitted to having a mullet at one time and lovin' it! It was a beautiful day for the Plaza...it was 60 degree weather and the sun was shining bright! We lucked out for it being January.

Later, we met up with Scott and Jenny and had dinner reservations at McCormick & Schmicks. I had shrimp and Kevin had fish along with salads, bread, and, of course, the chocolate bag for dessert! You cannot go to McCormick & Schmicks and not get a chocolate bag for dessert....even though we were both already stuffed beyond words, you better believe we found room for dessert!

Sunday was the usual routine. Exercise, church, and then plenty of laundry and cleaning to do. I did find time to fit in 2 Audrey Hepburn movies, Sabrina and Roman Holiday. There were both great! For Christmas, Lori and Mike got me a DVD Audrey Hepburn collection...I can't get enough of her!!

It's back to the routine today. However, the countdown is on to our next day off...Thank you Martin King Luther, Jr.!!!

The Beginning

Welcome!
I have decided to start a blog because I know many family and friends are interested in hearing about our life! HA! HA! Seriously though, this is a great way to get updated from time to time how life is for us in Kansas City for those of you we don't get to see as much. I will try to update it often.

2009 is off to a great start!!! We attended a New Year's Eve party at our friends, David and Tiffany. They live in a wonderful condo in downtown Kansas City. They were great hosts! Unfortunately, I forgot my camera...but the food was divine and the company was great! Tiffany had shrimp cocktail, chocolate fondue, several dips and chips, a cheese platter, relish tray, meatballs, lil' smokies, and much more! David was on the drink front and never let your glass go empty. All in all we had a great night to ring in the new year.
